About the Project

The Nelson Mandela Centenary Campaign set out to:

Build a campaign beyond a set of stamps or commemoration coins…

Build a campaign beyond a day of remembrance…

Build a campaign beyond a week of inspiring dreams…

Build a campaign beyond a ‘season’ of poppies…

Build a campaign above and beyond all social movement campaigns…

2018

In 2018 The Tribe were afforded an opportunity, when collaborating with Clive Evans and David Minnaar, to produce the strategy and CI design and video advertising for the Nelson Mandela Centenary. The new brand identity for the Nelson Mandela Centenary is as bold and strong as he was, and will serve well to promote what he asked of us: to help live his dream.

Dudu Buthelezi

“I went from selling amaKota outside school to making tea for a President.” Dudu Buthelezi. This beautiful remembrance of Madiba is part of an Untold Stories series celebrating Nelson Mandela’s Centenary and the people who played a part in his remarkable life.

Jack Swart

“I was his prison guard but over time we became like brothers.” Jack Swart. With thanks to the Nelson Mandela Foundation for an opportunity to make work like this, to our Tribe Leader Sheila McGillivray and the extended Tribe who helped with this unforgettable project.
